It’s been a while and I want to update you on the beautiful happenings at Meg Fish. I took a nice long break and thought about everything that has been going on. I thought I wanted to change my style of photography, but the truth is that I needed to re-fall in love with photography. I have been working now for almost 4 years as a professional photographer and somehow have lost that incredible edge of love and light. Well I am happy to say I have found it again! I picked up my old 50mm lens, read a few educational books including the recently published book by the lovely Elizabeth Messina. You can find it here. What I am realizing is that good portraiture is partly technical and partly love of doing it. I have purged a few things and bought a few props… the new look will be exquisite!
The new website will feature newborn portraiture at a new level (I’ve been studying hard!) and for a new reason. Meg Fish is launching LoveGivesWings™, a site dedicated to raising money for Life Network which supports men and women through pregnancy and after birth. It is an amazing resource I truly believe in. I will be giving 5% of all proceeds to this cause as well as 100% off the sale of LoveGivesWings™ bracelets (coming soon!). Just wanted to share this photo in anticipation for Easter Sunday.. she wasn’t a fan of the ears this afternoon so this was the only shot I got. But somehow it is just magical in that moment. She is 19 months going on 4 and climbing everything! You know she likes something when she says, Ooooooo, WOOOOOW. Loving you, miss Ella Chanel.

I have taken some time away from portraiture and it has been such a blessing. I am thankful to have been SO busy last year, but sad for the moments I missed with my daughter and amazing husband. I am officially stepping away from sessions until further notice. I am working on re-crafting my art into that which was my first love and I am desperately wanting to be outside of the mold I find myself in. Newborn photography has turned into a race to be the best… and I am now in a race to just BE.
Originality is equally creation and integrity.

Been working over at Crown(ed) a lot lately… loving just simply working with my hands, getting them laced with paint and watching them dry. Glistening beautiful creations I can call my own. It’s been quiet yet crazy around here lately. Computer problems only increased my aversion to technology. A break from Meg Fish has been really good for me … and yet I am so inspired for new projects and new horizons. Things will slowly pick up around here, but until I re-install, re-create and re-invent my working space (wiped clean, AGAIN) this is what I will set my eyes on. The simple things. xoxo Meg

crowned and some notes

It is my hope that you all had an incredible Merry Christmas and that you are looking forward to a fantastic 2012 year! I am working on a few new projects, and this one has been in the works all month. Crowned Embellishments is opening up shop this evening for ready to ship items. You can find the shop here and find me on facebook here. The full new collection will release in a week or two. Some of the crowns in the shop today are new colors and others are just gorgeous. There are limited amounts of each (about 2 or 3 only), so snag them up! Crowned Embellishments will not restock these items.
Also many people have asked about the books I made for my sweet baby Ella’s first year. I used a great company called Blurb, you can find it here. They are relatively affordable and the printing quality is reasonable with some tweaking!

Well they arrived today… just in time for Christmas. These are the first copies of my sweet Ella’s coffee table book. It documents her first year from birth to one year celebration. And I can’t tell you how many times I teared up going through all the pages, and pages and pages of my love. She is the most beautiful, precious and sweet being I have ever experienced and I am so thankful to have this book to remember her as a tiny babe.
